The House on the Edge by Alex Cotter - Review by Mia (Age 10)

Hi, my name is Mia. I am 10 years old and I live in London with my mum and dad and brother, Conor, who is 6. I love to read – my favourite series are Harry Potter (still!) and Percy Jackson – and I will be reviewing some books for Pickled Pepper Bookshop.

The House on the Edge is a mystery about a girl called Faith, who lives with her mother and brother Noah in an old house on the edge of a cliff. Noah is obsessed with the fact that he believes he talks to a ghost in the basement every night. Then, Faith meets a boy called Sam who says he wants to find the treasure that the Lookout (Faith’s house) is rumoured to have hidden away somewhere. Faith sets her sights on unravelling the mystery of the treasure, but she doesn’t know that things are going to get very complicated…

I really like this book and would recommend it for all people from the ages of 9+ or anyone who loves mystery books. I rate it 8 out of 10, as it is an amazing book. I found it difficult to get stuck into the first one or two chapters, as it has a slightly strange and difficult to understand piece of text every now and again, but it is easy to get engrossed after that and I really recommend it to all who love mystery and intrigue.
