‘Read like a girl’

March 21, 2018

On Saturday 17th March, Pickled Pepper Books celebrated International Woman’s Day with an event combining crafts and reading of inspiring extracts from ‘Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls’.

We talked about famous women who made history, such as Maya Angelou, Mary Anning or Harriet Tubman.
Children then took part in a craft activity where they were asked to draw a self-portrait of what they wantec to be when they grow up.

Veterinarian, artist, scientist or writer...here are some of their drawings!

After more stories of women who shook the world we made sashes.Children drew or wrote on a sash the names of women who inspire them in life.

From Cleopatra, Marie Curie, Florence Nightingale to their mums and best friends; the celebration ended with every child taking their sash and drawings home!

Looking for a book to inspire your kids? Pop in the bookshop and have a look at our selection.
