'The Key in the Sea’ is a performance suitable for children from the age of 2-9, involving puppetry, live music and children’s participation. The show is performed with puppets and a set made from driftwood, other natural materials and found objects.
We invite the children to join in by answering questions and giving their suggestions on how to solve the problems. We also share natural material instruments (sticks, pairs of shells and stones) with the audience, who then become an accompanying orchestra!
The story was devised as a traditional fairy tale fitting a medieval context, but added post-modern twists. It is a low-tech performance with high imagination, inspiring children and adults alike to play with natural materials, create their stories and make their own characters.
Story plot:
Princess Brunhilde runs away from home fed up with being ignored by her royal parents and has to spend the night in an old tower by the sea, not knowing that a greedy sea monster would like to have her as a snack. Knut, a courageous fisherman who lives on an island in the middle of the Seven Seas, finds a bottle with Brunhilde's shriek for help. But who will eventually be the hero of the day?
